What is SAM.gov and why does it matter?

SAM.gov is the U.S. government's central posting point for federal contract opportunities — every federal agency publishes new solicitations and amendments there before any other channel. State and local agencies run their own portals, but SAM.gov is the spine of federal contracting. If your business sells to the federal government, missing a posting there usually means missing the entire response window.

Who qualifies as a small business for set-asides?

Federal set-asides have separate qualifying rules for each program. The four we track most closely are SDVOSB (service-disabled veteran-owned), 8(a) (socially and economically disadvantaged), HUBZone (geographic), and WOSB (women-owned), and each asks different questions about who owns the business, where it's headquartered, and where its employees live. If you already hold one of those certifications, tell us on your monitoring profile and we'll surface every matching posting, including amendments and Q&A windows. Matching is driven by your business profile — your NAICS codes, your past bid history, and any set-aside certifications you tell us about — so every alert you receive is filtered against what your business actually does. We monitor the sources where government work actually posts:
